Oke, jadi mungkin gambarnya si Samuel Produce 101 agak berlebihan.
Jadi nih yang lagi mendalami dunia pendidikan, khususnya Bahasa Inggris, mau bagi-bagi materi nih tentang Spoof Text. In case pada gak familiar sama text ini, jadi spoof text itu adalah teks atau cerita yang punya twist di bagian akhirnya yang biasanya lucu. Daripada lama-lama, berikut beberapa variasi materi buat ngajar Spoof Text:

Penjelasan Dasar Spoof Text

·         Definition:

Spoof is a text, which tells factual story, happened in the past time with unpredictable and funny ending.

·         Social Function of Spoof:

Its social function is to entertain and share the story.

·         Generic Structure of Spoof:

1. Orientation: sets the scene (who were involved in the story, when, and where)
2. Event(s): tell what happened (tell what happened in chronological order)
3. Twist: provide the punch line (provide the funniest part of the story)

·         Language Feature of Spoof

1.       Focusing on individual parrticipants (people, animals or certain things)

2.       Using action verb in its past form (e.g. he walked away from the village) as it retell one’s story

3.       It is using adverb of time and place. The use of connectives (e.g. first. Then, finally etc). The use of adverbial phrases of time and place (e.g. in the garden, two days ago)

4.       Told in chronological order.

Contoh Short Spoof Text

Penguin in the park

Once a man was walking in a park when he across a penguin. He took it to a policeman and said; "What should I do?" The policeman replied; "Take it to the zoo!".

The next day, the policeman saw the man in the same park. The man was still carrying the penguin. The policeman was rather surprised and walked up to the man and asked; "Why are you still carrying the penguin? Didn't you take it to the zoo?" The man replied; "I certainly did. And it was a great idea because the penguin really enjoyed it. So, today I am taking it to the movie".

It’s Time to Go to School

Early one morning, a mother went in to wake up her son. "Wake up, son. It's time to go to school!" said his mother. "But why, Mom? I don't want to go." said the son lazily. "Give me two reasons why you don't want to go." answered the mother. "Well,", he said, "the kids hate me for one, and the teachers hate me, too!". After hearing that, he mother became confuse. "Oh, that's no reason not to go to school. Come on now and get ready."

"Give me two reasons why I should go to school."

"Well, for one, you're 52 years old. And for another, you're the Principal!"

For the Gun

It was in New York on December 20, 1997. Dick Levinson, 42 of Westbury, he had tried to rob the first National Bank of New York using a plastic pistol. The thief went into the bank at 2 p.m., he had threatened customers and tellers, and had told employees to hand over all the money. Recognizing the pistol as a fake, John Dawson, one of the tellers had pushed the alarm button. When the police arrived, they had found Levinson still inside the bank. Officers Barbadge and Carmichael handcuffed and took him to station 42, where the thief is now awaiting trial. When asked why he had attempted such a foolish plan, Levinsion replied, “I need the money to buy a real gun.”

Absence

Joe's Mother got angry because her son got a low mark on English test. "Why did you get such a low mark on that test?" asked mother angrily. Asked by his angry mother, Joe just kept silent and went out. A few moment, Joe came back home and met his mother again. His mother asked the same question. Joe answered steadily, "Because of absence." "You mean you were absent on the day of the test?" Mother wondered. Joe replied, "No, but the kid who sits next to me was."
